Sizing and compatibility

What size watch band do I need?

You need two measurements: the width and the length. The width must match your watch's lug width, the gap between the lugs where the band attaches, in millimetres. The width is often printed on the back of your old strap. Then choose a length that suits your wrist. Most watches take a 16 to 24 mm band, and most wrists fit a Standard length. Our Size & Fit Guide walks through both steps.

How do I measure my watch's lug width?

Use a ruler or digital calipers to measure the inside distance between your watch's lugs, in millimetres. If the gap measures 20 mm, you need a 20 mm watch band. Calipers give the most accurate reading. No ruler? Our printable watch band ruler includes a lug width scale.

What watch band widths do you carry?

Bandini carries every width from 6 mm to 30 mm, including odd sizes such as 13, 19 and 21 mm that can be hard to find. Popular sizes are 18, 20, 22 and 24 mm for men's watches and 10 to 18 mm for women's watches. Shop by width: 18mm, 20mm, 22mm or 24mm.

Does the band have to match my lug width exactly?

Yes. A band that is too wide will not fit between the lugs, and a band that is too narrow leaves gaps at the sides and can put strain on the spring bars. If your lug width falls between two sizes, measure again with calipers, or check the number printed on your old strap.

Will Bandini watch bands fit my watch brand?

Bandini replacement watch bands fit watches from popular brands such as Seiko, Citizen, Timex, Fossil, Bulova, Orient and many others. What matters is your watch's lug width and how the band attaches. Watches with proprietary connectors or integrated bands may need a model-specific replacement. See which lug types our bands fit.

What is the difference between Short, Standard, Extra Long, XXL and XXXL watch bands?

These are band lengths for different wrist sizes. Short bands suit smaller wrists, Standard fits most wrists, and Extra Long (XL), Double Extra Long (XXL) and Triple Extra Long (XXXL) add length for larger wrists. Not every band comes in every length, and lengths vary by style, so always check the size chart on the product page. Our band length chart shows the average length of each size.

How do I measure my wrist for a replacement watch band?

Wrap a flexible measuring tape around your wrist where you normally wear your watch. Keep it snug without pulling tight. No tape measure? Use a piece of string, mark where it meets, and measure it against a ruler. Compare your wrist size with the wrist fit in the size chart on the product page before ordering.

Do you have extra long watch bands for large wrists?

Yes. Bandini makes extra long watch bands in leather and metal expansion styles, in widths from 10 mm to 30 mm. Selected styles also come in Double Extra Long (XXL) and Triple Extra Long (XXXL), and our longest XXXL band fits wrists up to 9.5 inches (241 mm). Shop extra long watch bands or XXL and XXXL bands.

What should I do if my new watch band is too short or too long?

First, check that you received the length you ordered and compare it with the wrist fit in the product's size chart. If the band does not fit, you may need a different length. Contact us and we'll help you find a better fit. Unworn bands can be exchanged or returned under our hassle-free return policy.

Can I use a straight-end watch band on a watch with curved lugs?

In most cases, yes. A straight-end band fits a watch with curved lugs as long as the lug width matches, the watch uses spring bars, and there is enough room between the band and the watch case. Watches that need a specially shaped or integrated band may need a model-specific replacement.

What size Apple Watch band do I need?

Apple Watch bands are sized by the case size engraved on the back of your watch. For a 38mm, 40mm, 41mm or 42mm (Series 10, 11, 12) case, choose the smaller size. For a 42mm (Series 1, 2, 3), 44mm, 45mm, 46mm or 49mm Ultra case, choose the larger size. Have a 42mm watch? Check your series, because the older and newer 42mm models take different sizes.

Are Bandini watch bands compatible with smartwatches?

Yes. Our bands for Apple Watch fit all Apple Watch series, Series 1 to 12, SE and Ultra, and come with pushpin connectors attached. Our other bands use standard spring bars, so they also fit smartwatches with standard lugs, including many models from Samsung and Garmin. Check your watch's lug width and the product listing to confirm the fit.

How should a metal expansion watch band fit?

An expansion band stretches over your hand and should sit snugly on your wrist without pinching. There is no buckle to fasten. Many of our expansion bands adjust in length at the clasp, with no links to remove. Check the size chart on the product page for the band's length at rest and its wrist fit.

Materials, quality and care

Are Bandini leather watch bands made from genuine leather?

Yes. Bandini leather watch bands are made from genuine leather, and selected styles use Italian top-grain leather. We carry a range of finishes, textures and embossed patterns: browse all leather watch bands. The leather type and construction are listed in each product's description.

Why does my new leather watch band feel stiff?

New leather bands can feel firm at first, especially padded or thicker styles. This is normal. With regular wear, the leather becomes more flexible and shapes itself to your wrist. Break-in time depends on how often you wear the band, the type of leather and how it is made.

How long does a leather watch band last?

It depends on how often you wear it, how much moisture and sweat it is exposed to, and how well it is cared for. With proper care, a quality leather watch band can last for years. Bands worn every day, especially in hot weather, will need replacing sooner.

Are your leather watch bands comfortable for everyday wear?

Yes. Our leather watch bands are made for comfort and everyday wear. Many have soft nubuck linings and carefully finished edges. Thicker padded styles may take a short break-in period, while thinner, more flexible bands feel comfortable right away.

What is the difference between padded and flat leather watch bands?

Padded leather bands are thicker, usually near the watch case, for a fuller, more substantial look. Flat leather bands have a slimmer profile and are generally more flexible. Choose padded for a classic dress watch look, or flat for a lighter, understated style.

Are your alligator pattern watch bands made from real alligator leather?

No. Our alligator pattern bands are genuine calfskin leather embossed with an alligator pattern. They give the look of exotic leather at a more affordable price.

Can I wear my leather watch band in water?

We recommend keeping leather bands away from water: avoid swimming, showering and long exposure to moisture. Water can damage leather, change its appearance and shorten its life. If your watch gets wet often, choose one of our silicone or rubber watch bands instead.

How do I clean and care for my leather watch band?

Wipe the band gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let it air-dry naturally. Do not soak the leather, use harsh cleaning products, or dry it with direct heat. Regular care keeps the leather looking good and staying flexible.

Why does my watch band colour look slightly different from the photos?

We work hard to show accurate colours, but screen settings, lighting and natural variations in leather can cause small differences between the photos and the band. Natural leather can also develop a richer look over time.

Installation, adjustment and hardware

How do I replace my watch band?

Most watch bands are held on by spring bars. Use a spring bar tool to release the old band, place the new band between the lugs, and let the spring bars click into the lug holes. Before wearing the watch, gently pull on each side of the band to check that it is secure. See our step-by-step installation guides.

Are spring bars included with Bandini watch bands?

Most Bandini watch bands come with two spring bars, so you can fit them right away. Bands for Apple Watch come with pushpin connectors attached instead. Each product listing shows exactly what is included.

Do I need special tools to install my new watch band?

Most bands install with a spring bar tool. Quick release bands can be changed by hand, with no tools. Metal link bracelets may need a link removal tool to adjust the length. Always follow the instructions for your band, and see our installation guides for help.

How do I adjust the length of a metal watch band?

It depends on the design. Link bracelets are adjusted by removing links with a link removal tool. Many of our expansion bands adjust at the clasp: lift the latch with a small flat object, slide the band in or out, then press the latch closed. No links need to be removed. Check your band's instructions before adjusting.

What should I do if my buckle or clasp does not close properly?

Check that the buckle or clasp is lined up correctly and that no packaging or debris is in the way. Do not force it. If it still will not close, contact us and we'll help you sort it out.

Can I choose a different buckle colour for my watch band?

Many styles come with a choice of buckle colour, such as silver, gold or black. The options vary by style and size, so check the choices on the product page before you order.
